PASTORAL COUNCIL UPDATE

The council last met on 27 July.  Matters discussed included how the parish might serve youth, the formation of the parish liturgy group, action on various proposals received in the Suggestion Box (see narthex notice board). Next meeting, Wednesday, 24 August.  Ideas etc to the Suggestion Box please.

Fr TERRY’S 40TH YEAR OF ORDINATION

Please join us for refreshments and celebratory cake next Sunday (August 28) after Mass as we celebrate Fr Terry’s 40th year of priesthood. Refreshments will also be available after the 5.30pm Mass.

Confirmation Classes

Classes will commence next term for grade 6 children attending non-Catholic schools and others wishing to prepare for the Sacrament. The classes will be held in the church narthex on Monday evenings from 7pm to 8pm commencing 25 July 2011. Enrolment form is available on the website. JUBILEE PARISH EXPO SUNDAY 29 MAY

Come and enjoy a fun and informative afternoon  with a guided tour of the church by Fr Terry, ribbon cutting ceremony, exhibits of old photo’s and memorabilia, pipe organ demonstrations, fun for the kids , prizes and more. Morning tea, refreshments and music supplied! Expo will be held between 11am and 1pm.Come along and be part of the Jubilee celebrations in 2011.

CATECHIST PROGRAM

Families are invited to enrol for the catechist program that commences in first term on Tuesday 1 March 2011. The program provides general religious instruction and prepares children for the sacraments of reconciliation, first communion and confirmation. Classes will be held at St Bridget’s on Tuesday afternoons between 4.00pm – 4.45pm.

Enrolment details are as follows:

Date: Tuesday 22 February 2011

Time: 4.00pm – 4.30pm

Venue: St Bridget’s Church, 48 Sweyn Street, North Balwyn

Children will commence preparation for reconciliation and first communion from the first lesson in term one.

PARISH JUBILEE MASS AND PICNIC, 6th February 2011

This year, 2011, sees the 50th anniversary of the foundation of St Bridget’s Parish on 4th February 1961.  Our first jubilee event for the year will be the Jubilee Mass at 10.00am on Sunday, 6th February 2011, followed by a Teddy Bears’ Picnic in the grounds at the back of the church.   Please join us to celebrate 50 years of faith and community in Greythorn.

Parish Pastoral Council update

The Parish Pastoral Council (PPC) met on Monday 13^th December for the final time this year. Among many things discussed, it was decided to hold a Planning Day on 13 February from 11am to 4pm to consider in more detail the future structure and direction of the PPC. Interested parishioners are invited to attend and lunch is provided. Please RSVP to the office or via email if you plan to attend. Also, planning is progressing for celebrations to mark the Jubilee year of the parish in 2011 and the PPC continues to seek a closer relationship between the school and the wider parish.
