LENTEN REFLECTION GROUP 2012

A 5 week program run by Fr Terry will begin on Thursday 1 March at 7.30pm (in the narthex) and will continue every Thursday night until the 29 March. Sign up sheets are located in the narthex.

CHOIR PRACTICE

Practice will be held with Sr Kathleen on Monday 27 February at 7.45pm in the Church to prepare for singing on Sunday 4 March at the 10.00am Mass.

CATECHIST PROGRAM 2012

Parish families whose children do not attend St Bridget’s Primary School are invited to enrol their children for the St Bridget’s catechist program that will commence in first term on Tuesday 6 March 2012. The program provides general religious instruction and also prepares children for the sacraments of Reconciliation, First Holy Communion and Confirmation. Classes will be held at St Bridget’s on Tuesday afternoons between 4pm–4.45pm. 

Enrolment details are as follows:

Date: Tuesday 28 February 2012     Time: 4pm – 4.30pm.

Venue: St Bridget’s Church narthex,  48 Sweyn Street, North Balwyn 

Children will commence preparation for Reconciliation and First Holy Communion from the first lesson in term one.  Enrolment forms are available on the parish website and on the table in the narthex.  For further information please contact Edgar D’Souza on 0412 183 141.

Last weekends donations to the St Vincent de Paul Christmas Appeal totalled $4,030.55. Thank you to all parishioners for your generosity and love for the poor and needy in our community.

ST VINCENT DE PAUL CHRISTMAS APPEAL 26 & 27 NOVEMBER 2011

Next week our SVDP conference will hold its annual Christmas appeal. This is used to fund Christmas hampers for people we have helped over the year, and for our visitation works over the next few months. There will be volunteers staying behind after each of the three masses. Please consider a donation which will either help buy hampers, or be used by our conference to assist people in need. 

A recent conference meeting outlined area’s where funds from the last Winter Appeal had been directed.

….”our main call is for food vouchers and sometimes the need is particularly urgent. We recently visited a lady who was unable to work, due to injury. The lady and her invalid son were bought to tears when the food vouchers were provided, as it meant they would have food on the table. 

An increasing number of people have recently found themselves in serious arrears with their power bills. Due to the funds the parish has provided, we have assisted with the payment of those bills and on at least two occasions, these payments prevented the power from being disconnected…”

At this very difficult time of year for some in our community, please give generously.
