Welcome to St Bridget’s Parish, Greythorn!
St Bridget’s is a small but vibrant community of Catholic faith in North Balwyn. In my short time as parish priest I have become aware of the depths of Christian faith and life at work in our parish; St Bridget’s is truly blessed. I cannot cover all that happens in the parish in these few words, so I invite you to explore our website and see the dedication and service that lies behind all that we do and are.
On Sunday, 6th February 2011 St Bridget’s celebrated the fiftieth anniversary of the foundation of the parish and the beginning of our jubilee year. The jubilee gave us the opportunity to give thanks for these fifty years of grace and life, to grow in our awareness of our baptismal call, and to renew our mission and service in Church and society.
These are challenging yet exciting times for our parish. St Bridget’s Prayer puts it this way, as perhaps only the Irish can,
“I should like a lake of ale for the King of Kings; I should like the household of heaven to be there drinking it for eternity; I should like cheerfulness to be in their drinking; I should like Jesus here also.”
May that cheerfulness and that presence be yours in abundance at St Bridget’s.
